My studies in clinical psychology at the University of Arizona include brain research, sensation and perception, MRI studies, and psychology and law. Clinical research lab in Relationship Studies focused on the impact of divorce and loss on human functioning. Additional minor studies in Art History and Academic Religious Studies provided a cultural and spiritual understanding of human existence and human experience.
My studies in Marriage and Family Therapy focused on systems theory and the impact that human relationships have on individuals.
My approach to counseling is collaborative and solution-focused. My previous career in Vipassana and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Pain Relief Therapy assists individuals and their loved ones with issues related to chronic pain, mental illness, addictions, and issues of related to death and dying. In addition, my extensive background in Medicinal Food and Cooking, Yoga Therapy, and Massage Therapy bring a seasoned understanding of the mind/body connection into the therapeutic process.
My personal journey includes years of meditation practice and study in professional institutions and with various teachers, including Ram Dass, Stephen Levine, Insight training, Vipassana, and two years study in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica. My academic training in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy, includes a minor in Religious Studies and Art History.
